Flagler students among the Sunshine State’s brightest at Florida FBLA-PBL State Competition

By Luke Kresheck, Strategic Communications Student at Flagler College – Tallahassee

The weekend of March 23, 2018 was one of significance for Flagler College-Tallahassee (FCT). Last month, the Florida Chapter of Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda (FBLA-PBL), a prestigious collegiate organization which aims to grow and develop new generations of leaders and innovators, hosted their annual state conference in Orlando, Florida.

Four team members from the FCT Chapter competed against 23 colleges and universities from across the state in a number of business and career related events. The FCT team put on a dominant performance by placing in an astounding ten out of the twelve events in which they competed.  It is safe to say their luggage was heavier on the trip home than it was upon their arrival.

The students and their awards are as follows:

Aakeem Bennett (Accounting Major)

1st in Business Communication
1st in Impromptu Speaking

Erin Lapointe (Accounting Major)

1st in Retail Management
2nd in Client Services
2nd in Business Communications

Matthew Musial (Business Administration Major)

2nd in Business Presentation
3rd in Organizational Leadership
5th in Business Communication

Micha Miley (Strategic Communication Major)

5th in Marketing Analysis and Decision Making
5th in Entrepreneurship Concepts

With such a strong showing, the entire Flagler College – Tallahassee team has qualified to compete in the national FBLA-PBL competition in Baltimore, Maryland this June.  This is an immense accomplishment! Please wish them luck as they move forward in their success!
